What About a Moroccan Themed Wedding?

August 7 By Mary

With a lovely cuisine, enchantingly romantic décor and exotic possibilities for entertainment and gowns, this is a good choice, as long it is done right. Here is how to have a Moroccan inspired wedding to remember.

The color scheme:

  • To begin with, a color scheme has to be chosen. Would you like it to be more along the lines of the desert theme – gold, white and the minimalist shades in between?
  • Or would you like it to be the more colorful side of Morocco. This is actually easier because, as you will notice from the pictures I included, deep, rich colors are a Moroccan thing.
  • Though, I have to admit, a combination of both to a certain degree does seem to work well.

The Décor:

  • After, selecting a theme, we can move on to the décor. It is simpler once you know the theme you would like for your special evening. Just remember, the décor puts the guests in the Moroccan mood. So use some of the Moroccan décor like lamps, deeply colored cloth for table-cloth and Moroccan paintings if possible.
  • Also, it is advisable to have the invitation cards Moroccan-themed. This can be an easy task, from one point of view, but it can also be taxing because the ones I saw are all so lovely! Best wishes, ladies. You’ll need it.

The Gown:

  • It is not necessary for you to get a traditional Moroccan gown. In this case, you can actually use a traditional wedding dress and use Moroccan bridal accessories. Plus these days there are modern Moroccan themed wedding dresses. So, in this case, you won’t have to sweat about decisionsmorocco theme

The cuisine:

  • Then there is also the matter of the cuisine. Do not spoil the Moroccan mood you have put everyone in by giving them the usual traditional food (a selection of beef and chicken…). Like any culture, Moroccan cuisine is quite diverse, so it is likely you will have fun selecting what you want your guests to have. Though, since you have most likely mentioned to the guests that your wedding will be Moroccan inspired, it is best to add some of the popular Moroccan foods to the menu. Couscous and Moroccan mint tea (Tuareg tea or Maghrebi mint tea as they call it) for example, should be a given.

The Cake:

  • This should also be Moroccan inspired. Remember, for some part of the reception, the cake is part of the décor. So do not disappoint. You will have no excuse given the number of designs available on-line.

What about the entertainment?

  • For starters, you can hire a belly dancer. The exotic music and dancing will have all of you occupied for a bit.
  • You can also bring a henna artist for your guests. You definitely won’t see the ladies complaining about the experience. This is something they will never forget even though henna fades after a while.
  • Then, in one corner, you can have a photo booth with a preset Moroccan scene. Your guests (along with you) will love it!!

If you have noticed, the main thing I am trying to highlight is that if you are having a Moroccan themed reception, then make sure all of you actually feel you have had the Moroccan experience. Because it is an awesome one!
